This commercial is not an accurate representation of K-Mart customer service in 1984 or in 2012!

January 29,2006:The Kid takes a Look at Kmart and explains as to why it sucks!

I think that almost every large and small city has a few k-mart stores. K-mart is one store that I rarely visit though. It reminds me of a low scale wal-mart/upscale salvation army. Now, what I want to say is this, K-mart SUCKS! Most K-mart stores still look the same way they did in the 1980's. It is almost as if you are stepping back into time, when you set foot in a K-Mart store. What K-Mart should do is, renovate all of the k-mart stores and add more lighting. I have noticed that many K-Mart stores have dim lighting. Another thing that Krap mart has to do is keep more products in stock! Over the years k-mart has developed an image of being a boring, cheap, and pathetic store. I remember back in the late 1980's, k-mart had a terrific magazine ad campaign. Most of their ads grabbed your attention and were able to get you into the store. In the next few days I will post a couple of k-mart ads from the 1980s. Peace!

Update:

Well, I wrote this entry close to six years ago at the tender age of 22. I still feel the same way about K-Mart, six years later at the age of 28. I am reposting this entry for the simple fact that K-Mart/Sears has recently decided to close more than 100 stores across the U.S. This does not surprise me at all! In 2012, most K-Mart stores still have a dated look, and hardly any decent merchandise in stock. One thing that I forgot to mention in my 2006 post is that K-Mart has higher prices than Wal-Mart. Why go to K-Mart, when Wal-Mart sells stuff for a lot less. TO be honest with you, Sears should close down every K-Mart in the U.S., and liquidate all of Krap Mart's merchandise. That is the only way that Sears is going to stay alive. Seriously. It is a harsh thing to say, but it has to be said. Peace!
